Dr. Rohit Kumar is an Anesthesiologist at Trillium Health Partners (THP) in Mississauga, Ontario. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degrees at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He then completed his Anesthesia Residency training at the University of Toronto. Dr. Kumar is a certified member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
More recently he completed his training with the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine and is certified in Basic and Advanced Neurotoxin and Fillers, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, Mesotherapy, Microneedling, Energy Based Devices (EBD) and LASER therapy, Sclerotherapy and Cosmetic Dermatology.
At THP, Dr. Kumar has taken an active role in teaching medical students and residents in the operating room. Between 2011 and 2017 he was the Physician Lead in the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic and continues to be a member of the Acute Pain Service. In 2014 Dr. Kumar was presented the Trillium Health Partners Better Together Physician Award for demonstrating leadership in advancing collaborative practice. In 2020 he competed a four year term on the Professional Staff Executive which represents the interests of over 1300 Professional Staff to the Hospital and Board. He has sat on the Medical Advisory, Finance and Audit, Fiscal Advisory and Credentialing Committees. During the final two and a half years, he was a member of the Board of Directors at THP.
Outside of clinical work Dr. Kumar is an active advocate for physicians and patients. With the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) he is the Vice Chair of Ontario's Anesthesiologists, President of the Mississauga Medical Society and a District 5 Delegate. To further his interests in advocacy has taken several courses through the Physician Learning Institute and in March 2018 received the Physician Learning Institute Certificate. He has also participated Health Care Advocate Workshops offered by the OMA.
