Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In this section I will be happy to try to answer common questions relating to your Anesthetic

When can I drive after Anesthesia?

You should not drive or operate any heavy machinery for 24 hours after receiving an Anesthetic for sedation or surgery.  You must check with your surgeon to see if there are further restrictions relating to the procedure.

Does my Anesthesiologist stay with me during the entire surgery?

An anesthesiologist or an anesthesia assistant who is supervised by the anesthesiologist will observe you and your vital signs at all times throughout your surgery.  This is the case for general anesthesia as well as regional and local anesthetics with sedation.  The anesthesiologist is always ultimately responsible for your care.  Monitoring by an assistant is only delegated during stable times of the operation.
